¶ … Commitment to Pursue a Career in Nursing
Commitment, compassion, caring, and concern are the 4C's of nursing, in my view. These attributes are extremely critical in the profession of nursing, as well as in most facets of life, in general (Collins, 2009). A nursing professional's education and training is continuous; it doesn't end after acquiring a bachelor's or associate degree. Continuation of schooling is a personal nursing prerogative. Personally, I am deeply committed to the overall nursing profession and, in particular, to my specialty -- oncology. This, I demonstrate through my goal of lifelong learning. For reinforcing this commitment of mine, I acquired a Master of Nursing degree, which helped expand my knowledge, and ensured a sound grasp of nursing concepts, theories, and frameworks. Through ongoing learning, I have acquired an increased understanding of patients, the way they learn, as well as how I may continue shaping patient education on the basis of the aforementioned frameworks and concepts (NT, 2012).
I played my very first nursing role in the course of my nurse aide training, at an ALF (assisted living home/facility). Though our training covered several skills, I came to understand that this role was not just about completing...
Nursing Degrees ADN vs. BSN The ADN vs. The BSN: A comparison of both nursing degrees Students wishing to enter the profession of nursing are often faced with two clear choices: that of an ADN (associate degree in nursing) and a BSN (Bachelor of Science nursing degree). An ADN generally takes two years and is often offered by a community college or state school. As a result, it is substantially cheaper than a four-year
Nursing Shortage Review On Nurses Shortage The supply of professional nurses relative to the increase in demand for their services has been on a general decline over the years. As a career choice, nursing has been facing perennial shortage of professionals. Most healthcare organizations will affirm that their daunting tasks were recruiting fresh nurses and retaining the ones already in practice. The 2008 projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that
Nursing Informatics Pioneers According to the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), nursing informatics has been classified as the "science and practice (that) integrates nursing, its information and knowledge, with management of information and communication technologies to promote the health of people, families, and communities worldwide" (2013), and this emerging field has the potential to dramatically improve the delivery of healthcare services across the board. Just as the intrepid Florence Nightingale paved
Nursing Phil Throughout my life, I have exemplified core Christian values like faith and temperance. Christian role models have helped me to shape a character and identity that is conducive to a life of selfless service, which I view the nursing profession to be. I want nothing more than to participate in a Christian nursing community, with the goals of making the world a better place one patient, and one community,
Nursing Shortage Issues Surrounding the Nursing Shortage In the early 2000s, national strategies to improve the nursing workforce profile were largely focused on increasing the number of nurses at the bedside through the use of sign-on bonuses and travel nurses. While these strategies tended to provide local short-term solutions, they did little to address long-term issues affecting the nursing shortage. With nursing education programs challenged to increase student enrollment, many colleges were
One of the invaluable experiences I had working with underserved communities was between the years 2007 and 2008, when I was fortunate enough to be involved as a volunteer conducting missionary work in Atotonilco, Mexico. As a community nurse for the mission, I was responsible for taking the glucose level, vital signs and educated the general public about diabetes and heart disease. I have found my work in Mexico
